First Timers Information

Interested in signing your child up for hockey? Have you been told that hockey is too expensive to play and too time consuming? In comparison to other sports, or travel sports in general, you'll find hockey to be entertaining, fast paced, and a sport your child will love.

In addition, the EPHA aims to grow the great Sport of hockey in Eden Prairie by offering beginners a chance to try hockey for free with our Rookie Camp program, sponsored by Westwood Sports. Our Registration fees are some of the lowest and most affordable fees in the Metro Area, with payment plans available for the upcoming season.

YOUTH HOCKEY OPEN HOUSE

MITE and U6/U8  BRING A FRIEND INTO HOCKEY
EDEN PRAIRIE COMMUNITY CENTER – CAMBRIA ROOM
8:00 a.m. -12:00 noon
 
BOYS AND GIRLS!!!   Are you wondering what all this hockey buzz is about???  Do you see your friends having fun and want to play hockey too?!  Do you have friend that is interested in playing hockey?   Bring them to the EPCC and COME JOIN THE FUN!    Come learn about boys and girls youth hockey, meet some current players, talk to EPHA board members and parents,  learn about Rookie Camp and other ice programs, borrow or buy some used equipment and get on the ice to try hockey and feel the energy of this amazing sport.    Prizes and fun games will be throughout the morning and there will be Davannis Pizza at 11:00 a.m.  
 
FROM 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. -  HIT THE ICE!!!   Ice is available for first time skaters to put on some pads and see how it all feels on the ice.    Rink 2 will be for younger boy and girl players 8 and under  to skate with their current hockey friends and have some on-ice fun with some High School Girls and Boys.  Rink 1 is available with a EPHA certified coach for older first time or more experienced skaters. 
 
What if you decide you want to play and LOVE hockey??? (We think you will.... :)     EPHA registration will be available for Mite and U6/U8.

Level of Play Guidelines

Players are grouped in age ranges established by Minnesota Hockey to establish common size and skill levels across the state. Within each age level, certain skill levels are established so that we end up with players of like skills and size on teams and those teams play games with other teams of like size and skill. These age ranges are as follows for the upcoming season.

Players must sign up for the level in which their birth date falls. Moving down to a younger age range is not allowed. Moving up to an older age level requires that the player have a birthday in the 3 months following the cutoff date, be in the grade at school commensurate with that older range, and receive explicit written approval from the EPHA Board of Directors.  Exceptions to the three month rule may be granted by the EPHA Board in order to provide adequately staffed teams at certain levels.

*Note that girls may register for any level but boys may not register for Girls' teams.
